Day to day christian lessons from the book of romans

Lessons learnt from the Book of Romans
These are some of the lessons Apostle Paul derived from the Book of Romans

1. We need to behave like Christians
From Romans12:9-19
We need to

  • Love without hypocrisy
  • Do what is good, run from evil
  • Bless and not curse, even our enemies
  • Live peaceably with all men
  • Do not avenge, for vengeance belongs to God, He will repay

2. Submission to authorities
According to Romans 15:1-4, all authorities are appointed by God, and resisting them brings judgement on ourselves.
Rulers are God's ministers to us for good. As Christians, we are required to do what is right,
For conscience's sake and also to avoid being punished.

3. Love your neighbour.
Loving our neighbours fulfils all the laws.
For if we love our neighbours, we will have no vices like jealousy, envy, stealing, murder, adultery, hatred, selfish ambitions, sorcery, fornications, contentions, or outbursts of wrath among others.
Romans 13: 8- 10, Galatians 5:19-21

4. Put on Christ.
Let us avoid sin at all costs, walk in the light and cast off all the works of darkness.
For the day of the Lord is approaching, nearer than we think. Romans 13:11-14

5. Law of liberty
Do not judge one another, do what your mind convinces you to do and let your brother/sister in Christ do likewise. For we shall all stand in the judgement seat of Christ, to give an account of ourselves to God.
Just remember, we are letters carrying the message of God to the world, beware lest what you are doing affects your weak brother/sister. They may be watching and learning from us.  Romans 14:1-13, 1 cor 8:9-15

6. Bear each other's burdens.
Kindly, brethren, if you see your brother falling, restore him with the spirit of gentleness.
Let us intercede for them through prayer instead of talking /backbiting and judging them. Romans 15:1-5
